For or against death penalty?

Are you for or against death penalty?

Why do you think as you do?
You must have at least five arguments telling why you think as you do.
You should also use the internet for gathering facts. You'll be more convincing.

I have thought about it and the only answer that I have gotten is that it´s just barbaric and wrong. Can someone please help me to get some more arguments?

"it's wrong" is not an argument, it's a conclusion.
"it's barbaric' is slightly better but you should write why you think it's barbaric.

Ok, so you want arguments for 'no death penalty'. Here is one:
Sometimes people are sentanced for a crime they did not commit. In some cases that has been proven many years later by DNA or other proof. If the person is 'just in jail' he/she can be released. But if he/she is killed, well, that's final.

Another one? Ok ...
Someone has to do the actual killing. Can you imagine what that does, mentally,  to that person?

Last one:
Perhaps a lifetime prison sentence with hard labour would be worse than death. Just make sure it's not a confortable holiday prison and that it lasts for life (not 20 years). Throw in some torture and it becomes really hard (but also barbaric ... and wrong)
To paraphrase Calvin (from Calvin and Hobbes):
There he spent his life eating mice and gruel
With every bite for fifty years he was sorry he'd been cruel
